The following candidates to the M.A. program in History will be interviewed on Friday, 17 May 2013, at the Cultural Heritage Museum, Boğaziçi University (please note the interview times indicated below the list).  The names which have an asterix (*) next to them will be interviewed by Skype on Saturday, 18 May 2013 (afternoon Istanbul time, more information will be sent by email).  The History Department would like to thank all candidates who applied this year.

STUDENT APPLICATION INFORMATION

 

The application material should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office between April 1 and 24, 2013.

Required material:

- Application form (available online and at the Office of the Registrar)

- transcript

- GPA (minimum 2.75 for MA, 3.0 for PhD)

- statement of purpose (maximum 4 pages) – in English, except for students applying to the English Preparatory Year

- two letters of recommendation

- ALES or GRE grades

- BU English Proficiency or TOEFL grades

-Ph.D. applicants should submit their completed M.A. Thesis or a completed chapter

The admission process involves a written exam and an oral interview.

The written exam will take place in YD 206 (North Campus), on May 14th, 2013, between 17:00-20:00 (local time) – the list of students to be invited to the interviews will be announced on May 16th.

The interviews will take place at the Museum Building (South Campus) on Friday May 17th, and Saturday May 18th, 2013.

Students applying from outside Turkey will be required to take the written exam simultaneously via email under the guidance of a designated local proctor. Skype interviews will be arranged (for May 18th) for those invited to the second stage of the admission process. Foreign applicants should contact department vice-chairs Oya Pancaroğlu (oya.pancaroglu@boun.edu.tr) or Elif Ünlü (elif.unlu@boun.edu.tr) for making the necessary logistical arrangements.
