The Department of History offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. The main focus is on the history of the Middle East and the Mediterranean world, while Asian and European history are also strongly represented. Ottoman and Turkish history are major topics of teaching and research. Both in the undergraduate program and the graduate program , the department emphasizes world-historical and comparative perspectives. Teaching and research interests of the department’s faculty members cover a wide range of areas and periods, and represent diverse approaches to the study of the past.
